I was born in Ermelo and raised under difficult circumstances, I only started schooling at a ripe aged of 11 as I had to herd family cattle in between selling basic necessities at pension payout points, while my peers were learning how to read and write. Even after starting school, I still had to make ends meet by polishing shoes in town during weekends and school holidays, dabbling in organising beauty pageants and selling sweets at school to raise money for his upkeep. Defying extreme odds for which turned into the building blocks to one of my professional passions – skills development. In 2006 I was awarded the prestigious Nelson Mandela Scholarship to study towards a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) in the UK. Through the scholarship I got to meet the global icon Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela on two occasions – a life-changing experience that bolstered my spirit to succeed.
